Scam, but not scary

What your phishing radar should look out for

Phishing may be a shape‑shifter, but knowing what to expect can equip you to keep it at bay. A common tactic from phishers is to try to obtain personal data (e.g. your password or account details) to gain fraudulent access to your money. To do this, cybercriminals may reproduce Swissquote emails or web pages, and contact you by SMS or telephone impersonating the bank. Another tactic is to install spyware on your device, via a link or a fraudulent attachment.

The following scenarios should ring your alarm bells

Dodgy‑looking replicated Swissquote web pages or emails. Look for these signs:

  • Web domains other than Swissquote’s official ones*
  • Distorted Swissquote logos or low quality content
  • Inaccurate or suspicious email address
  • An abnormal abundance of typos or poor grammar
  • A communication in a language other than the one set in your Swissquote account
  • Links to disclose personal data or account details
  • Unrequested emails, phone calls, SMS or private messages from a source posing as Swissquote
  • Suspicious attachments in order to install potential malicious software
  • Invitations to invest in wonder financial products
  • Requests to transfer your money with the promise to receive a larger amount in return
  • Demands to unblock your account or unsubscribe from an offer

*Swissquote’s official domains are: trade.swissquote.ch, trade.swissquote.co.uk, inx.swissquote.eu, trade.swissquote.cy

In all cases, remember that Swissquote will NEVER ask you to disclose personal information such as your password.

Mobile Level 3: the most bulky bodyguard for your account
Mobile level 3 interface

Level 3, our two‑factor authentication login, is the direct comeback to phishing’s heavy reliance on password theft. By setting it up, you’ll receive a unique Mobile Level 3 code on your smartphone to access your account, valid only for each login, and thus adding a supplementary shielding layer to your banking ecosystem.

Stay one step ahead of phishing

There’s no such thing as too much protection for your money. Here are some additional tips to prevent frauds, especially if you have not yet set up Mobile Level 3 to your account.

In general, be sceptical of claims of instant returns or high yield with no risk, and keep in mind that being pressured to make a decision quickly is usually a red flag. Remember to never fill in any page or form you may be redirected to with sensitive information.

In all cases, if you suspect you have been a victim of fraud, we recommend you to change immediately your account credentials.

What Swissquote will never ask of you

There are some behaviours and requests that blatantly contradict our security guidelines. Be immediately suspicious if you receive any type of communication from a source posing as Swissquote if it asks you to:

*Swissquote’s official domains are: trade.swissquote.ch, trade.swissquote.co.uk, inx.swissquote.eu, trade.swissquote.cy
*Swissquote’s official app are: Swissquote, CFXD

The 5 golden rules to defeat phishing
Stop sign phishing
  1. Activate Mobile Level 3, the most effective shield to secure your account
  2. Change your password immediately if you think your account is at risk
  3. Remember that Swissquote will never ask you for your personal information or any other sensitive data via any communication outside the banking secure system
  4. Remain attentive to fraudulent communications (emails, calls, web pages) that reproduce the bank's visual universe to obtain information from you, trigger a payment or install spyware
  5. In case of doubt, do not click on any link or download any attachment, type Swissquote’s website URL yourself and avoid accessing the login page through a search engine link.
